GROWME

GrowME is a "self-watering" pot for growing herbs. It consists of two ceramic bowls, a balloon, soil, seeds and a special thread. The project is a collaboration between Bjarkarás, a workspace for people with disabilities and students from the Iceland Academy of the Arts and Reykjavík University The aim of the project was to create a product that could be produced at Bjarkarás which is a workspace for disabled people. Bjarkarás runs greenhouses where they grow herbs and vegetables. They also have facilities to work with clay, glass, paper and candle making. The facilities and the capabilities of the people working at Bjarkarás made the frame for the product. The end result is based on the facilities and knowledge at Bjarkarás as well as reflecting the atmosphere of the place where people work on their own speed, are taken good care of and have the opportunity to flourish.
